2024 Junior District Champions

A record field of 74 players from all over Victoria competed in the 2024 Ballarat Junior Open on Wednesday 10th January at the Buninyong Golf Club. A Victorian Junior Order of Merit Event, importantly the tournament also serves as our Junior District Championships.

Mo Haintz from Mt Xavier Golf Club won the Under 18 Boys District Champion title. In his last year of junior golf, this is Mo's eighth District title, adding to his previous Under 15 (2020, 2021), Under 18 (2022, 2023) and Under 21 (2022, 2023, 2024) trophies. An amazing contributor to junior golf in our region, Mo’s support in assisting many younger players is greatly appreciated.

Millie Cassidy from Maryborough Golf Club won the Under 18 Girls District Champion title following a playoff with Sydney Viktorie Bayerle from Ballarat Golf Club. Also, in her final year of junior golf, this is Millie’s second District title, to go with her recent Under 21 Women’s title. Another amazing contributor to junior golf in our region, a key player in our 2020 Victorian Junior Country Regions victory, Millie is a fantastic role model for other girls.

Rex Hodge from Mt Xavier Golf Club won the Under 15 Boys District Champion title following a playoff with Sky Adirekchotikul from Ballarat Golf Club. An emerging talent, it has been a big summer for Rex with some strong club and tournament rounds, a trip to Bendigo for the 2023 Victorian Junior Country Regions and now a first junior District title.

Sydney Viktorie Bayerle from Ballarat Golf Club won the Under 15 Girls District Champion title. This is Sydney’s seventh District title, adding to her previous Under 15 (2020, 2022, 2023) and Under 18 (2020, 2022, 2023) trophies, and at 14 years of age there could be many more to come.
