The Finals of the Ballarat District Golf Inc. Women’s Mid-Week Pennant were held in excellent weather conditions at a very well presented Chalambar Golf Club on Monday 15th May. All players embraced the course with much enthusiasm at the start of the day. After many close individual matches, the three teams that finished on top of the ladder were victorious.
In Division One, four matches were decided on the 18th hole and with the scores tied at 2 matches each, Vicki Waldron made a very good up and down to defeat Helen Pascoe in the final match to give Ballarat its first Division One win since 2001.
In Division Two, Skipton were going for a third consecutive finals win. In 2015 they won Division 4, 2016 Division 3 and were contesting Division 2 this year, only to have their party spoilt by Ballarat who got home in another close finish.
In Division Three, Hepburn Springs overcame some unforeseen circumstances to field a team to compete against Ballarat. With two of their regular players missing, their determination helped them to get over the line.
