Buninyong Golf Club are the 2017 Division One Pennant winners after another extremely close affair, held at the Ballarat Golf Club today.
Playing against Ballarat - the home team got off to a great start, with Brenton Walker, Andy Yanner and Andy Maconachie all recording solid wins for their club.
Although the advantage seemed to be leaning Buninyongs way in the top four matches, with all of their players holding at least a 4up lead heading into the final nine holes.
Daniel Staples, Mick Innes and Brett Tolliday returned their own solid wins at the 4, 3 and 2 positions, leaving Travis Tatt at number 1, the opportunity to close the win out for his team.
However Ballarat's number 1 player, 18 year old Bailey Holloway, had other ideas. An inspired charge by Bailey, playing against arguably the yardstick of Ballarat golf, saw him win 5 of the last 6 holes and square the match and send it into overtime.
3 intense playoff holes followed, with brilliant golf being displayed by both players in front of a large crowd, leaving Travis to claim the title by the narrowest of margins on the 39th hole.
