2018 Women's District Championship

Monday 28th May, on a typical Ballarat day, sunshine, cloud, wind and rain, the women’s District Championships were played at Midlands Golf Club. Some players contested the 27 hole Open Championship and others the shorter 18 hole Graded events.

After the completion of 27 holes two players were tied for the Open Scratch Trophy. A three hole play-off between Helen Pascoe and Amy Leeson, both from Buninyong, was required to determine a winner. The Southern Golf Club Pennant team mates proceeded to the 13th tee. After the first two holes, scores remained level with both players scoring a par and a bogey each. On the final hole, the 18th, Leeson played her second shot to the green finishing approximately 6 metres from the flag. Pascoe’s shot finished pin high just off the left side of the green. With Pascoe to putt first, luck was on her side as she watched her putt fall in to the hole. Leeson’s putt then fell just short of the hole to give Pascoe the win.
