Buninyong entered the final as warm favourites, having defeated Bacchus Marsh West 4.5 to .5 earlier in the day, but Bacchus Marsh West bounced back strongly and capped off an excellent season by defeating Buninyong 3.5 to 1.5, to win the Junior Pennant title. Congratulations to Jarryd Martin, Jack Darling, Taruni Prasad, Harry Cowan and Jack Cowan on the high quality of the golf they played in the final and for their consistency over the course of the season.
The highlight of the final was an enthralling contest between two of the district’s brightest young stars in Jarryd Martin (Bacchus Marsh West) and Joel Smith (Buninyong). Although the overall result was decided before they hit their tee shots on the 18th hole, the match finished all square with both players shooting 75 off the stick. Jarryd and Joel will feature in our Boys Team that will play in the Golf Australia – Victorian Junior Country Regions event in May.
Congratulations also go to Stanley Miller (Midlands) and Anna Inglis (Buninyong) on winning the inaugural Junior Pennant Player of the Season awards. Stanley went through the minor round undefeated and Anna recorded four excellent victories.
