Mt Xavier wins the 2023 Junior Pennant title

Mt Xavier Golf Club defeated Bacchus Marsh West Golf Club 3-2 to win the 2023 Junior Pennant title.

In a high-quality final played on Sunday 19th March at the Ballarat Golf Club, both teams won two of the four games contested. Unfortunately, Mitchell Wells from Bacchus Marsh West had to withdraw from his game immediately prior to the commencement of play due to illness.

  3. Rex Hodge lost to Jack Cowan 3&1
  4. Jack Poulton defeated Mitchell Wells 10&8 (walkover)
  5. Tom Sheridan defeated Kalan Kucera 4&3

It was great to see several families and members from Mt Xavier and Bacchus Marsh West out walking the course and supporting the two teams.

Congratulations also to Stanley Millar (Midlands) and Millie Cassidy (Maryborough) on winning the Junior Pennant Player of the Season awards.

Held over a six-week period in conjunction with the MyGolf Junior League, Junior Pennant catered for 30 boys and girls each week, with a total of 41 players participating over the course of the season.

Played in teams of five, games are played under handicap match play conditions.

It takes a considerable amount of effort to conduct the Junior Pennant season and we wish to thank:

  • The Junior Development Committee consisting of Ron Adams, Andrew Cartledge and Tony Collier for coordinating the competition
  • Executive Committee members Robert Rosenow and Jeanette Tocchet for their support throughout the season
  • The clubs who fielded a team
  • The managers for organising their teams each week
  • Maryborough Golf Club, Bacchus Marsh West Golf Club, Buninyong Golf Club, Mt Xavier Golf Club, Midlands Golf Club and Ballarat Golf Club for hosting the matches

Well done to both teams on reaching the final and congratulations to Mt Xavier Golf Club on winning their first Junior Pennant title since 2020.
